Short Bio

Georgios Kolliarakis is a senior associate fellow at DGAP. 

He also serves as the principal investigator of the EU’s MEDEA (“Mediterranean Practitioners’ Network Capacity Building for Effective Response to Emerging Security Challenges”) and of the pilot Preparatory Action on Defence Research SOLOMON (“Strategy-Oriented anaLysis Of the Market fOrces in EU defeNse”).

Kolliarakis has more than 15 years of experience in public policy analysis and has worked with national ministries and international bodies – including the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and the OECD – on issues of anticipatory security governance and the transfer of evidence to policy. He is a member of the International Network for Government Science Advice and belongs to the DIN Standard Interdisciplinary Working Committee on Artificial Intelligence.

After his engineering studies at the Technical University of Athens, Kolliarakis earned a master’s degree in political geography at the University of Bonn and a PhD in international politics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
